Is it possible to save video conferences without a participant?
Video conferences can only be saved with at least one participant. This participant can also be the creator himself.
Who gets the moderation rights in a video conference?
The first participant in a conference always has moderation rights. This can also mute other participants.
How long can a video conference last?
A video conference can last up to 50,000 minutes, i.e. 833 hours.
How many video conferences can take place simultaneously in one instance?
Currently, three video conferences with 50 participants can take place. If you want more, please contact our support.
How many users can be in a video conference at the same time?
Currently, up to 24 people can be in a video conference at the same time. If you want to invite more people, that's no problem either. Please contact support for this and we will make this technically possible.
How can I share my screen?
During the video conference, click Start/Stop sharing your screen .
Can I mute other participants?
Participants can only be muted by the moderator.
I couldn't share my screen in my employer's video conference. Why is that?
Screen sharing can be prevented by restrictions set up in the company software. Please speak to your supervisor or IT officer about this.
One participant had to dial into the video conference a second time due to his poor internet connection. Why is his picture now being transmitted twice?
This can always happen. The second attempt is started in a new window of your browser, so that you participate twice in the ViKo for the system. Feel free to close the first window so you only appear once.
Unfortunately I can't attend the video conference, could I watch it later?
At the moment it is not possible to save the video conference. However, you can ask the creator of the video conference to create a parallel stream on a platform (such as YouTube) and save the stream.
Self-resolving of connection problems
Generally
Loxonet Video is a browser-based video conferencing program that is perfectly supported by the common browsers of all devices. No additional software installation is required to use Loxonet Video.
In the following article we would like to give you help so that you can dial into your desired conference as quickly as possible if you have any connection problems.
In this article we answer the following questions:
- I do not hear anything
- I see nothing
- I hear and see nothing
- I can't be heard
- I can't be seen
- Other connection problems
I do not hear anything
- Has the person opposite activated the microphone? As a moderator, you can see in the participant's display whether the microphone and/or the camera is activated via small symbols at the top left. Alternatively, you can use the speaker statistics to see whether the user is audible.
- Laptops often have a function key (second assignment from F1 - F12 via FN key) with which you can activate /deactivate the loudspeakers - corresponding symbol in a different color next to f1 - F12.
- If you are using a Windows operating system, restarting the computer can also resolve the problem.
I see nothing
- If the image from the camera or an approved application is not transmitted and a placeholder appears instead, it can be assumed that the data transmission rate is not sufficient. This can happen with WLANs or bad DSL lines. If necessary, try dialing in via a cell phone hotspot.
- If several images are to be displayed, but some of the windows remain black, the hardware used may not have enough computing power to calculate the image output. In this case, putting an image in full screen mode and only having to display one image might solve the problem.
I hear and see nothing
- The Loxonet video page can be reached, but no image and/or sound is transmitted. In some company networks, Internet connections are only permitted via VPN and to the standard ports . For example, Loxonet Video cannot be used from a few administrative networks/bank networks. Here you have to establish the connection via a different Internet access. In addition, please contact your network administrator.
I can't be heard
- Please click on the microphone icon below. Your browser then asks for browser enabling of the microphone . You must confirm this. If the microphone does not work as desired by then, please check your settings. Here you can once again explicitly select the audio source .
I can't be seen
- Please click on the webcam icon below. Then your browser asks for browser approval of the webcam . You must confirm this. If the microphone does not work as desired by then, please check your settings. Here you can once again explicitly select the webcam .
Other connection problems
- The estimated most common problem is the connection via WLAN . Several devices often share the bandwidth or, in the case of older technology, still slow each other down due to different standards. If the distance to the access point is also large, the quality suffers even more.
- The use of the browser only rarely leads to problems. If an unsuitable browser is often not a problem for very small groups, it has a clear effect when there are several people. Chromium is the browser of choice . Since version 78 (July 2020) Firefox works very well again.
- With each additional participant, the amount of data to be transmitted and processed increases . The server at the school may still be able to cope with this volume of data and be connected to the Internet quickly enough, but this is not necessarily the case for the participants. Especially when many cameras are activated for many participants, the Internet connection of a participant or the computing power of his computer can become a problem and negatively affect the connection quality. If connection problems occur, it should first be checked whether the camera and/or microphone must be activated for all participants or whether they can only be activated if necessary.
- In any case, muting the microphones can be profitable for larger groups, not only because some devices transmit every breath and produce background noise, but also feedback that occurs again and again is easier to control.
- The connection quality can be reduced in the browser under "Additional settings" under "Quality settings" in order to reduce the amount of data.
- In the case of slow Internet connections, it may also be helpful to reduce other accesses to the Internet in order to be able to use the available bandwidth as unrestrictedly as possible.
